Education is the power that instills self-confidence in a person and builds his character: CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, September 8: Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that by staying connected with their roots and leading the world in modern science and technology, our children are fulfilling the dream of Late Swami Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari Ji. They have modern technology in their hands, compassion in their hearts, a global outlook, and their feet firmly rooted in the soil of India. In doing so, they have brought glory to their Sanskrit language and mother tongue. Today, the beautiful blend of modernity and Indian values visible in educational institutions is an extension of this visionary thought.

Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was speaking at a condolence ceremony organized at DBS International Public School in Ladwa on the 22nd death anniversary of Late Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari on Tuesday. The Chief Minister paid floral tribute at the statue of Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the auditorium hall. He welcomed and honoured saints and religious leaders by presenting them with shawls. During the programme, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Hari Chetananand Maharaj and Professor Ramesh Kumar Pandey were honoured with awards by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paid tribute to the penance, sacrifice, spiritual discipline and commitment to human welfare of Late Swami Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari. He said that there are some personalities whose lives transcend the boundaries of time. Even when they are no longer physically present among us, their thoughts remain alive in the consciousness of society. Their words show the way, their deeds inspire, and their ideals shape the character of future generations. He said that Late Swami Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari Ji was one such divine and towering personality. His life was dedicated not to himself, but to society. His knowledge was not for display, but for the welfare of the people, and his spiritual practice was not aimed at renouncing the world, but at alleviating the suffering of humanity.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Late Swami Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari had undertaken an in-depth study of Hindu scriptures. His greatness lay in putting that knowledge into practice. He took the knowledge of the Vedas to schools, the philosophy of Karma Yoga from the Bhagavad Gita to public service, and the values of Indian culture to the younger generation. He said that the scriptures state that true knowledge is that which liberates a person from ignorance, fear, narrow-mindedness and bondage. Swami Ji was a living embodiment of this philosophy. He believed that education was not merely a means of acquiring literacy or obtaining a degree. Education is the power that instills self-confidence in a person and builds his character. It develops a sense of duty and inspires dedication towards the nation. For him, a school was a laboratory for building individuals and the nation, along with imparting education. Swami Ji was a strong proponent of the Gurukul system of education. He made visionary efforts to connect Gurukuls with modern education while preserving traditional learning.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Swami Ji did not confine his thoughts to sermons alone. He placed religion and the nation above all else. He also transformed his commitment to service into institutions. Under his guidance, two Sanskrit colleges, three Vedic schools, one girls' college and one school, among several other educational institutions, have been established and are being operated.

*Vidyapeeth promoting Vedic education, Sanskrit, religion, culture and national spirit*

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Shri Jairam Vidyapeeth, established in Kurukshetra in 1977, has been promoting Vedic education, Sanskrit, religion, culture and a spirit of nationalism. Thousands of students educated at this Vidyapeeth are serving society in various fields.

He said that the Seth Navrang Rai Lohia Jairam Girls' College, established on 22 acres of land at Lohar Majra, has opened new avenues for higher education for girls. He said it was particularly significant that at a time when girls' education was not given priority in society, Swami Ji made women's education and empowerment among the principal objectives of his life. He understood that when a boy is educated, one individual becomes educated, but when a girl is educated, the future of two families and many generations is transformed. Today, our daughters are bringing glory to India in education, science, administration, sports and even space. The foundation for this transformation was laid long ago by visionary saints like Swami Ji.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Swami Ji did not consider religion merely a system of worship. For him, feeding the hungry was religion, providing treatment to the sick was religion, holding the hand of the helpless was religion, and lighting the lamp of knowledge in the darkness of ignorance was religion.

*Swami Ji served refugees in Kurukshetra during the Partition of India*

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that another inspiring aspect of Swami Ji's personality was his national consciousness. During the Partition of India, he served refugees in Kurukshetra. He worked to raise public awareness during the Chinese and Pakistani attacks. He also assisted flood victims in Haryana and earthquake victims in Uttarkashi. He said that his life was also an example of dedication towards environmental protection and cow service.

Brahmaswaroop Brahmachari Maharaj, head of Shri Jairam Vidyapeeth, welcomed Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and other guests. He said that Swami Devendra Swaroop Brahmachari had envisioned creating good human beings, and providing quality education was an important means of fulfilling that dream. The institution is making efforts to impart education by establishing various institutions. Through education, values and culture, these institutions are working to fulfil his dream. Children educated here will contribute to the country in one field or another.

He said that the blessings of the Guru and the grace of parents are essential for children. The youth should respect and honour their parents and Guru. A child who does so always progresses in life.
