Chandigarh, August 18: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that the tender for Phase-II construction of the Atal Mall and Bank Square building has been awarded by the Haryana Police Housing Corporation at a cost of ₹53 crore, and construction work will begin shortly. He said the Phase-II building will be constructed at the rear of the existing complex and will have 54 showrooms.
Sh. Vij said that, under Phase-II of the Bank Square project, in addition to the 54 showrooms, a 450-seat auditorium will be constructed on the third floor for programmes, conferences and other events. A rooftop food court will also be developed where visitors can enjoy food and refreshments.
He said that construction under Phase-I of the Bank Square has already been completed. The e-auction of the 44 showrooms constructed under this phase will be initiated soon by the Ambala Sadar Municipal Council. The rent for these showrooms has been fixed at ₹150 per square foot. Showrooms have also been reserved for banks.
Energy Minister Anil Vij said the Bank Square project will prove to be a milestone for Ambala Cantonment by bringing banks currently operating in busy market areas under one roof. He said shifting the banks to Bank Square would not only reduce traffic pressure in the markets but also provide greater convenience to people by bringing multiple banking facilities together at a single location.
It may be noted that, on the initiative of Energy Minister Anil Vij, the Atal Mall and Bank Square is being developed over 3.97 acres. The three-storey building constructed at the front under Phase-I has already been completed at a cost of approximately ₹101 crore. The tender for Phase-II has now been awarded and construction work will commence shortly. The two Bank Square buildings will have a total of 98 showrooms.
Works to Be Undertaken Under Phase-II of Bank Square
• The Phase-II building will have 54 showrooms—17 on the first floor, 17 on the second floor and 20 on the third floor.
• A 450-seat auditorium will be constructed on the third floor, along with rooftop food courts.
• The building will have facilities including lifts, staircases, escalators, fire-fighting systems, HVAC, separate washrooms for men and women, and other amenities.
Facilities Completed in the Phase-I Bank Square Building
• The basement and ground floor provide parking space for more than 317 vehicles.
• The building has a total of 44 showrooms. The first floor has 21 showrooms, along with two public toilets each for men and women, an electrical panel room, four lifts and staircases.
• The second floor has 14 showrooms, two public toilets each for men and women, an electrical panel room, four lifts, staircases and other facilities.
• The third floor has 13 showrooms, two public toilets each for men and women, an electrical panel room, four lifts, staircases and other facilities.
• The basement and ground floor have an HVAC plant room, pump house, lifts, electrical panel room, staircases and other facilities.
• Other common facilities include air-conditioning, a landscaped green area in front of the building, fire alarms, fire-fighting systems, CCTV cameras, two tube wells and other amenities.
