Special Power Case Disposal Campaign Recovers ₹4.67 Crore in Revenue

Chandigarh, August 5 - Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Dr. M Ravi Kiran chaired a review meeting with all Station House Officers (SHOs) across Haryana. Superintendent of Police Sh. Tahir Hussain, along with all Deputy Superintendents of Police, was also present at the meeting.

Reviewing the Special Campaign for the Disposal of Power Cases, which commenced on 17th July 2026 under the directions of Director General, Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Sh. Navdeep Singh Virk, ADGP M Ravi Kiran asserted that no leniency would be shown towards officials found negligent in implementing the campaign. He commended police teams that had delivered commendable results while directing underperforming districts to prioritise the campaign and ensure its effective execution.

Providing details of the campaign, ADGP M Ravi Kiran stated that disputes involving more than ₹4.67 crore had been successfully resolved. The Special Campaign for the Disposal of Power Cases, conducted from 17th July to 31st July, was aimed at resolving long-pending electricity disputes and recovering outstanding revenue. The fortnight-long drive focused on complex cases involving disputed amounts ranging from ₹1 lakh to over ₹5 lakh.

According to official data, a total of 219 cases were successfully disposed of during the campaign, resulting in the settlement of ₹4,67,67,229 (over ₹4.67 crore). The primary objective of the initiative was to reduce the burden of litigation while facilitating the recovery of blocked revenue for electricity utilities across various districts.

The Gurugram Division emerged as the top-performing division in terms of financial recovery. Out of 1,386 pending cases, the division disposed of 53 cases, resulting in the recovery of a record ₹1,26,97,935. Gurugram district alone resolved 35 cases in the ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh category, clearing dues exceeding ₹46.5 lakh. Mahendragarh and Rewari districts also made significant contributions to the division's performance.

Although the Gurugram Division led overall, Faridabad emerged as the highest-performing individual district. Out of 1,604 pending cases, Faridabad disposed of 29 cases, leading to the recovery of ₹72,78,767. Notably, four cases involving claims exceeding ₹5 lakh alone accounted for recoveries of ₹27,52,462.

Other administrative divisions also recorded noteworthy achievements during the two-week campaign. Ambala Division disposed of 11 out of 78 cases, resulting in recoveries of ₹20,02,683. Hisar Division resolved 19 cases, recovering ₹18,64,355. Karnal Division, comprising Panipat, Karnal and Kaithal, disposed of 10 cases, clearing dues exceeding ₹16.3 lakh. Rohtak Division also made a significant contribution to revenue recovery, with Sonipat resolving eight cases and Charkhi Dadri disposing of five cases.

The campaign placed particular emphasis on cases involving disputed amounts between ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh. A total of 135 such cases were resolved, resulting in recoveries amounting to ₹1,71,79,670.

Officials observed that targeted drives of this nature have proved highly effective in reducing the backlog of utility-related litigation while ensuring the timely recovery of departmental revenue.
