CM Calls for Collective Efforts to Build a Fearless, Drug-Free and Prosperous Society

CM Addresses Bhagwan Valmiki Prakatotsav Vishal Tirth Yatra in Jalandhar

 Chandigarh,

Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that restoring Punjab’s economy and ensuring that every citizen feels secure would be the first step towards achieving Ram Rajya as envisioned by Maharishi Valmiki. He urged people to follow Bhagwan Valmiki’s teachings of equality, harmony and compassion and contribute to building a fearless, drug-free and prosperous society.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Vishal Tirth Yatra organised in Jalandhar on Sunday to mark Bhagwan Valmiki Prakatotsav. The Yatra is being undertaken from Jalandhar to Shri Ram Tirth in Amritsar, the sacred site associated with Bhagwan Valmiki’s penance.

Describing Adi Kavi Bhagwan Valmiki as a guide to humanity and a champion of moral values and social justice, the Chief Minister said that the Ramayana presented the life and character of Lord Ram and offered timeless lessons in righteous living, character building and human values.

*Bhagwan Valmiki Gave Humanity the Divine Story of Lord Ram*

The Chief Minister described Bhagwan Valmiki as a sage among sages and a yogi among yogis who spread devotion to Lord Ram and gave humanity the divine story of his life. He said that Bhagwan Valmiki attained the stature of a Maharishi through chanting Ram’s name. It was a great privilege, he added, to have witnessed the construction of the magnificent temple in Ayodhya dedicated to Lord Ram, whom Bhagwan Valmiki revered.

He said that Bhagwan Valmiki taught that greatness comes from a person’s actions and thoughts, rather than birth. His teachings call for an ideal society where everyone is equal and has the right to live with dignity. The primary purpose of governance, he said, is to serve those at the lowest rung of society. In the Ramayana, Bhagwan Valmiki envisioned a society free from suffering, fear, discrimination, helplessness and injustice.

The Chief Minister said that the celebration of Bhagwan Valmiki’s Prakatotsav was also an occasion to reflect on the condition of society in the light of his teachings. Punjab, the sacred land of gurus, pirs, saints and warriors, has always guided the nation, strengthened its food security and made immense sacrifices to defend its borders.

*Citizens, Farmers, Workers and Youth Feel Let Down*

Expressing concern over the situation in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that young people were increasingly being drawn into despair and drug addiction. He said that deteriorating law and order and administrative disorder had left ordinary citizens, farmers, workers and young people feeling let down. A lack of direction and foresight in the Punjab Government’s policies and approach, he said, had stalled the state’s development.

*Maharishi Valmiki’s Message of Ram Rajya Remains Relevant*

The Chief Minister said that a responsible government works tirelessly for public welfare, guides young people and ensures an environment of security and justice. When governments fail to honour their promises, leave young people without employment or support, and pursue divisive politics, Maharishi Valmiki’s message of Ram Rajya becomes even more relevant.

He said that Punjab’s administrative failures, deteriorating economic conditions and failure to protect the future of its youth showed that those in power had moved away from the teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki and the great Gurus.

He said that Bhagwan Valmiki’s teachings emphasise that peace and progress depend on unity and a willingness to share in one another’s joys and sorrows. Punjab needs a renewed commitment to these moral and social values. Protecting young people from drugs and providing them with quality education, skills and employment would be a fitting tribute to Bhagwan Valmiki, he added.

Highlighting Haryana’s welfare measures, the Chief Minister said that 40 lakh people were benefiting from the inclusion of poor families under the Ayushman scheme. The government was also addressing the healthcare needs of the elderly. Houses were being provided to two lakh families, while women were receiving Rs 2,100 a month.

*Haryana Has Adopted Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas in Keeping with Bhagwan Valmiki’s Ideals*

The Chief Minister described Haryana and Punjab as two arms of the same body, united by their food traditions, history and culture. He said that, guided by the ideals of Bhagwan Valmiki and other great saints, the BJP government in Haryana had adopted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

He said that the international airport in Ayodhya had been named after Maharishi Valmiki to take his teachings to people across the country.

The government, he said, had worked for every section of society, provided jobs transparently without recommendations or bribes, and sought to bring the poorest into the mainstream. He said that young people in Punjab were being given access to drugs instead of employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana wishes neighbouring Punjab to prosper and every citizen to have the opportunity to progress. This would require people to look beyond false claims and populist promises and support politics based on good governance, development, honesty and sincere intent.

He said that the BJP’s policies had remained committed to Punjab, Punjabiyat and the high ideals of the Sikh Gurus. He urged the people of Punjab to support a development-focused approach so that cooperation between the Centre and the state could help build a happy, drug-free and prosperous society.

Calling for a united fight against drugs and a stronger commitment to social equality and brotherhood, he urged people to work towards making Punjab vibrant, joyful and progressive again. With Bhagwan Valmiki’s blessings, he said, Punjab would overcome its difficulties and regain its position as a leading state.

Event chief organiser and Bhagwan Valmiki Utsav Samiti president Vipan Sabharwal, Mahamandleshwar Bansi Dass, Keshav Dass, Baba Rajkishore, Jagjit Singh Maharaj, Amarjit Qadri, district president Ashok Sareen, Brijinder Singh Hamdard, representatives of local religious organisations, saints and a large number of citizens also remained present.
