*Paddy Procurement Started Ahead of Schedule in Haryana in the Interest of Farmers*
*249 Mandis/Procurement Centres Established Across the State; Geo-Fencing Facility Provided at All Centres*
*7.35 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Paddy Arrived in Mandis Till October 5; 2.57 Lakh Metric Tonnes Procured*
Chandigarh, October 6: Keeping the interests of farmers in the state in mind, the Haryana Government has started paddy procurement ahead of the scheduled date during the Kharif Season 2026-27. Paddy procurement, which was scheduled to begin on October 1, was started from September 29. The procurement process will continue from September 29 to November 15.
A government spokesperson said that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy fixed by the Government of India this year is ₹2,441 per quintal for Common Paddy and ₹2,461 per quintal for Grade-A Paddy. Paddy procurement in the state is being carried out through 249 mandis/procurement centres.
The spokesperson said that to facilitate farmers and ensure transparency in the procurement process, all mandis and procurement centres have been equipped with geo-fencing facilities. Paddy procurement in the state is being carried out by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, HAFED, and the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation.
*Haryana Sets Target to Procure 58 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Paddy*
The Government of India has set a target of procuring 58 lakh metric tonnes of paddy for Haryana this year. In addition, a target has been set for the delivery of 32.5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy as CMR, with 10 per cent broken rice, to the Food Corporation of India.
*7.35 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Paddy Arrived in Mandis Till October 5*
According to figures released by the government, approximately 7.35 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in mandis across the state by October 5. Procurement agencies have so far procured 2.57 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. The process of lifting the procured paddy has also commenced, with 27,497 metric tonnes lifted so far.
Last year, 1,458 rice millers carried out CMR work in the state. This year, 1,293 rice millers had registered for CMR work as of October 4.
*Basic Facilities Made Available for Farmers in Mandis*
To ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience while selling their produce, the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board has made adequate arrangements for basic facilities at mandis and procurement centres. These include drinking water, toilets, drainage facilities, help desks and other essential facilities.
*District Administration Directed to Take Measures Keeping Paddy Moisture in Mind*
Keeping the issue of moisture in paddy in view, the district administrations have already issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, regarding the harvesting of paddy.
The Haryana Government is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers across the state. The government is ensuring that farmers do not face any difficulty in selling their produce.
The government has made robust arrangements to ensure the procurement of every single grain of the farmers' produce at the Minimum Support Price. The procurement process is being continuously monitored, and necessary arrangements are being ensured in the mandis for the convenience of farmers.
