MPHW Caught Red-Handed Accepting ₹2.50 Lakh Bribe for Changing Victim’s Medical Sample and Giving Favourable Opinion in MLR
Nuh/Gurugram, August 18. As part of the ongoing campaign against corruption, the Haryana State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has taken major action in Nuh district by arresting Monu Sharma, an employee of the Health Department, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹2.50 lakh. The SMO of the concerned PHC has also been made an accused in the case. The arrested accused has been identified as Monu Sharma, MPHW, PHC Pinangwan, District Nuh. Dr. Birpal, SMO, PHC Pinangwan, has also been made an accused in the case. The bribe amount of ₹2.50 lakh was recovered during the operation.
* Bribe Demanded in POCSO Case Registered Against Complainant’s Son
The complainant stated that FIR No. 162 dated 13.08.2026 had been registered against his son at Police Station Pinangwan under Section 4(2) of the POCSO Act, 2012 and Section 351(3) of the BNS. During the medical examination of the victim, accused MPHW Monu Sharma allegedly contacted the complainant and assured him that he would help his son by changing the victim’s medical sample and giving a favourable opinion in the Medical Legal Report (MLR). In return, a bribe of ₹15,000 was initially demanded, out of which ₹5,000 was paid in cash and ₹10,000 was transferred to a phone number. Thereafter, the accused allegedly remained in contact with the complainant and continued demanding money in the name of settling the matter and ensuring favourable action in his favour. During further negotiations, the accused demanded a bribe of ₹3.50 lakh and ultimately asked the complainant to bring ₹2.50 lakh. The complainant informed the SV&ACB about the demand.
* Trap Laid on Complaint, Accused Caught Red-Handed Accepting ₹2.50 Lakh
After verification of the complaint, a team led by SV&ACB Faridabad laid a trap. Following the prescribed procedure, accused Monu Sharma was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹2.50 lakh. The bribe amount was also recovered. During the bribe transaction, the involvement of Dr. Birpal, Medical Officer, PHC Pinangwan, was found at the spot, following which he was also arrested as per law.
* FIR Registered Under PC Act, Investigation Underway
In this regard, FIR No. 31 dated 18.08.2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act) has been registered at Police Station SV&ACB Gurugram. During the trap operation, Shri Mahender Singh, Veterinary Surgeon, Palwal, was associated as a Gazetted Officer. The prescribed procedure under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, was followed during the operation.
* Strict Action Against Corruption by ACB in Line with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s Zero-Tolerance Vision – Bureau Chief
In line with the zero-tolerance commitment of Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini towards corruption, the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) is continuously taking effective action against corruption. ACB Chief Shri Arshinder Singh Chawla, IPS, said that there is no place for corruption in the government system. Strict action as per law will be taken against any officer or employee found demanding or accepting bribes. The general public is appealed to immediately report any demand for bribe by a government officer or employee in lieu of any government work to the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau helpline numbers 1064 or 1800-180-2022. Necessary action will be ensured as per law on the basis of the information provided by the complainant.
