Make Cleanliness a People’s Movement under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan- Krishan Kumar Bedi*

*Government Continuing Effective Campaign Against Drug Menace, says the Cabinet Minister*
Chandigarh, September 19 – Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi, said that the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is being observed from September 17 to October 17. Various service-oriented activities are being undertaken during the campaign to reach out to people and serve society. He urged citizens to actively participate in these activities.
Addressing the gathering during a programme held at the Irrigation Rest House in Rohtak on Saturday, he encouraged employees of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees to contribute wholeheartedly towards making the cleanliness drive under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan a success. He said that cleanliness is not merely the responsibility of government departments but a collective responsibility of every citizen.
Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, has envisioned cleanliness as a people’s movement, while Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, is committed to building a clean and healthy Haryana. He appealed to the people of Rohtak district to actively participate in cleanliness drives, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, blood donation camps and other service activities during the campaign. He also urged workers and citizens to make the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan a campaign driven by public participation.
*Government’s Campaign Against Drug Menace Continues*
Referring to the State Government’s action against drugs, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi said that an effective campaign is being carried out against the drug menace in Haryana. He said that a Special Task Force has been constituted to effectively curb drug trafficking, while the departments concerned have been entrusted with the necessary powers and responsibilities.
He said that efforts are also being made to strengthen coordination among the concerned agencies of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab in the campaign against drugs. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the government is working both on public awareness and administrative action. The objective is to effectively curb drug trafficking networks and keep youth away from drugs, said the Cabinet Minister.
The Cabinet Minister said that the government has made sustained efforts for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and has accorded due respect and representation to the Scheduled Caste community during its three terms in Haryana.
He further said that under the government’s initiative, birth anniversaries of great personalities are being commemorated at the government level. The Chief Minister’s residence has also been named ‘Sant Kabir Kutir’.
On this occasion several dignitaries remained present.
