Minister acts promptly on farmers’ complaints, directs officials to resolve water supply issues

 Chandigarh,

Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry’s intervention has ensured that water reaches the tail end of the Loharu Canal. Acting promptly on farmers’ complaints about irrigation difficulties, she directed the officers concerned to resolve the problem immediately. The department subsequently took the necessary steps to ensure water supply to the canal’s tail end.

Farmers in Kushalpura and several other villages had been facing irrigation difficulties due to inadequate water supply in the Loharu Canal. Led by the Bharatiya Kisan Union, they raised the issue with Irrigation Department officials and sought adequate water for their fields.

Taking their complaints seriously, the Cabinet Minister directed officers to address the problems affecting water supply and ensure that water reached farmers’ fields. Following her intervention, the department took action, enabling water to reach the tail end of the canal. Notably, Department officers have assured farmers that necessary steps will be taken to address disruptions in supply, including water theft upstream. They have also assured farmers of an additional two-and-a-half days of water supply.

Smt. Shruti Choudhry said that providing adequate irrigation water to farmers is a priority for the State Government. She directed officers to regularly monitor water distribution in canals and ensure that water reaches farmers’ fields at the tail end. She also instructed them to resolve irrigation-related complaints in a time-bound manner so that farmers do not face difficulties in carrying out agricultural operations.

The Minister said that the State Government is committed to protecting farmers’ interests and ensuring the smooth functioning of the irrigation system. Farmers’ complaints will be acted upon promptly to ensure lasting solutions, she added.
