Governor Announces Rs 10 Lakh Grant Each for Two Schools to Strengthen Student Facilities

Faridabad, Sept 16 - Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Wednesday visited Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, and Government Model Sanskriti Primary School, Daulatabad, in Faridabad district and inspected the facilities and arrangements being provided to students.

During his visit, the Governor reviewed the arrangements related to education, drinking water, sanitation, electricity, classrooms, and other basic amenities. He also visited the primary wing and interacted with the students. Encouraging the children, he exhorted them to study diligently, develop good habits, and strive to become responsible citizens of the country.

Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Haryana's First Lady, Smt. Mitra Ghosh, were welcomed at the schools by Deputy Commissioner Ayush Sinha and members of the School Management Committee.

Parents and Teachers Must Work Together for Holistic Development of Children

Addressing parents and students, the Governor said that the holistic development of children is possible only through close coordination between parents and teachers. Education, he said, is not confined to textbooks, as sports, health, discipline, and moral values are equally important for the overall development of children.

He emphasized the need for providing better basic amenities in schools, particularly clean drinking water, proper sanitation facilities, and sports equipment. He said that continuous efforts are being made to strengthen such facilities in government schools and that special budgetary provisions are also being made for this purpose.
On the occasion, the Governor announced stipends for financially needy students of both schools and a grant of Rs 10 lakh each for development works and various facilities at the two schools.

Parents Should Identify and Encourage Children's Talents

Urging parents to recognise and nurture the individual talents of their children, Prof. Ghosh said that every child has unique abilities. While some children may excel in academics, others may have greater potential in sports or other fields. Parents should identify these strengths and encourage their children to pursue their interests and capabilities.

He advised parents to spend adequate time with their children and pay attention not only to their studies but also to their behaviour, interests, and overall development. He said children should be taught with love, affection, and patience rather than through scolding.

The Governor also stressed the importance of maintaining open communication with children. He said parents should create a friendly and trusting environment so that children feel comfortable sharing their concerns and problems.

Teachers Should Act as Guides and Sources of Inspiration

Highlighting the role of teachers, the Governor said that teachers are not merely providers of academic knowledge but also guides and sources of inspiration for students. He urged teachers to inculcate discipline, self-confidence, patriotism, and good values among children.
Prof. Ghosh said that effective coordination between parents and teachers is essential for guiding children towards a bright future. He expressed confidence that collective efforts by parents and teachers would help children develop into responsible citizens of the country.

On the occasion, the Governor honoured Kunal Tevatia, an Asian Junior Hockey gold medallist from Faridabad; Raj Bhatia, FIA President, who provided financial support to the school; Satish Jain, Director, Indo Auto Tech; Siddharth Chawla, Representative and CSR Panel Chairman, FIA; and representatives of Escorts Kubota.

Governor Reviews School Facilities and Directs Officials to Ensure Proper Arrangements

During the detailed inspection, the Governor reviewed classrooms, drinking water facilities, toilets, sanitation arrangements, and other infrastructure at both schools. He directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and proper maintenance of all facilities.
Expressing concern over the absence of a playground, he directed the concerned officials to make appropriate arrangements so that students have adequate opportunities for sports and outdoor activities.
The Governor also enquired about the mid-day meal scheme and directed the school authorities to ensure that nutritious and quality food is provided to students. He further issued necessary directions regarding the management, maintenance, and improvement of facilities on the school premises.

SDM Dr. Hanni Bansal, District Education Officer Anshu Singla, officials of the district administration, school staff, members of the School Management Committee, parents, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
