*Health Minister Arti Singh Rao Urges People to Pledge Eye Donation*

Chandigarh, August 26: Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao has called upon the people of the state to take a pledge to donate their eyes on the occasion of the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight, being observed until September 8, 2026. She said “eye donation is the greatest gift” and that one’s eyes can bring a new ray of hope into the life of a visually impaired person.

Arti Singh Rao said that the eye donation of one person can help restore vision and bring light into the lives of two visually impaired persons. She clarified that a person can pledge to donate their eyes during their lifetime, while after death, the eyes are retrieved within 6 to 8 hours. No fee is charged to either the donor’s family or the recipients for the entire process.

Following the death of an eye donor, family members can immediately contact the nearest Government Health Centre, Eye Donation Centre at the District Civil Hospital, Medical College or Eye Bank. Citizens in Haryana can also contact Dial 112 or the National Helpline Number 1800-11-4770.

The Health Minister said that people from every section of society should come forward and join this noble campaign so that the gift of sight can reach as many people in need as possible.
