The Haryana government on Thursday approved procurement and service proposals worth approximately Rs. 3.26 crore to upgrade district hospitals, strengthen blood banks and diagnostic laboratories, improve pharmaceutical quality testing and create a centralised digital inventory of medical equipment across all districts of the state.
The decisions were taken at separate meetings of the State Health Procurement Special Standing Purchase Committee (SSPC), chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr. Sumita Misra.
The committees approved two-year rate contracts for nine mortuary chambers, each with a capacity to accommodate six bodies, at an estimated cost of Rs 70.62 lakh, and 17 elevating pedestal autopsy tables costing approximately Rs 66.27 lakh for district hospitals across Haryana.
The two proposals, involving a combined estimated expenditure of Rs 1.37 crore, are aimed at expanding mortuary capacity and improving the safety and efficiency of post-mortem examinations.
In another major decision, the committees approved medical equipment worth approximately Rs 1.09 crore to strengthen blood bank, screening and laboratory services.
The equipment includes 25 deep freezers capable of maintaining temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius at an estimated cost of Rs 56.64 lakh, 20 ELISA readers with washers costing Rs 34.02 lakh and 15 digital analytical balances costing Rs 18.55 lakh.
The said the equipment would improve the storage of samples and reagents, strengthen screening and testing capabilities and support the availability of safe blood at healthcare facilities.
To strengthen pharmaceutical quality control, two dissolution machines costing approximately Rs 16.04 lakh and two disintegration apparatus costing Rs 8.96 lakh were approved for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Haryana.
The instruments, involving a combined estimated cost of Rs. 25 lakh, will enhance the FDA's capacity to test pharmaceutical products and monitor compliance with prescribed quality standards.
The committees also approved a statewide exercise to survey, verify, validate and digitise medical equipment installed in healthcare facilities across all districts of Haryana. An agency has been approved to undertake the exercise at an estimated cost of Rs 22.42 lakh.
The initiative is intended to create an accurate, centralised digital inventory of medical equipment, allowing authorities to track assets, monitor their condition and utilisation, and improve maintenance and procurement planning.
Officials said the digital inventory would help strengthen account inability and enable more efficient management of medical equipment across public healthcare institutions.
In addition, the committees approved the engagement of an agency for housekeeping services at the HMSCL office in Panchkula under a three-year service-level agreement at an estimated cost of Rs 32.40 lakh.
The arrangement is aimed at maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and upkeep of the corporation's office premises. The government said the decisions would strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve diagnostic and pharmaceutical testing facilities and ensure better management of medical equipment and essential support services across the state.
The approvals cover two-year rate contracts for medical equipment, a three-year housekeeping agreement and the proposed statewide equipment digitisation exercise.
