Haryana Strengthening Its Position Among Leading States in White Button Mushroom Production- Sh. Shyam Singh Rana

Chandigarh, August 13-  Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that Haryana is steadily strengthening its position among the leading states in the country in white button mushroom production. He said that the State Government is making sustained efforts to make agriculture and horticulture more remunerative for farmers and enhance their income.

The Cabinet Minister said that the State Government is providing 40 to 50 per cent subsidy to farmers for setting up mushroom production units. In addition, special schemes have been introduced for the socio-economic upliftment of farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes, under which subsidies of up to 85 per cent are being provided for various horticulture activities.

He said the government is implementing several initiatives to strengthen horticulture infrastructure across the State. A new Horticulture Policy is also being formulated with the objective of promoting the sector on a broader and more modern scale. The policy is expected to be implemented shortly, said the Cabinet Minister.

Highlighting the government’s focus on modern farming technologies, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said smart horticulture practices such as protected cultivation, aeroponics, hydroponics, greenhouse farming and vertical farming would be promoted extensively across all districts during the current year. The State has set a target of bringing around 1,000 acres under these advanced cultivation technologies, he said.

The Cabinet Minister said the Department of Horticulture is also being restructured to provide farmers with stronger institutional support across the entire horticulture value chain—from production and value addition to effective marketing. As part of this restructuring, a proposal is under consideration to rename the department as the Department of Horticulture and Marketing.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana further said that during 2026-27, registration of horticulture crops on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal will remain open throughout the year, enabling farmers to register details of their horticulture produce at their convenience.

To strengthen post-harvest management, ensure better storage facilities, help maintain price stability and promote exports in international markets, the State Government will also introduce a dedicated Cold Chain Policy, he added.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said these initiatives and policy measures reflect the government’s commitment to transforming agriculture into a modern, sustainable and more profitable sector, while creating better opportunities for farmers and strengthening the horticulture economy of the State.
