Chandigarh, September 22- Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Empowerment, Sh. Gaurav Gautam, has congratulated and extended his best wishes to the athletes of Haryana for their outstanding performance at the Asian Games being held in Japan. He said that Haryana’s athletes are bringing laurels to the State and the country on the international sporting stage through their hard work, talent and determination. Their achievements have created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and pride across Haryana.

The Sports Minister said that Haryana has always been a State that has produced outstanding sportspersons for the country. Athletes from the State have carved a distinct identity in wrestling, shooting, hockey, athletics and various other sporting disciplines. He said the impressive performance at the Asian Games also reflects Haryana’s strong sporting culture and the hard work of its athletes.

*Suchika of Rohtak and Himanshu of Jind Create History*

In the ongoing competitions, Suchika Taryal of Rohtak has won a historic bronze medal for India in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). This is India’s first medal in MMA since the sport was included in the Asian Games. With her impressive performance, Suchika has not only brought honour to the country but has also demonstrated the sporting talent of Haryana.

Meanwhile, Jind’s shooter Himanshu Dhillon made his birthday memorable for the country by winning two silver medals in shooting. Congratulating him on the achievement, the Sports Minister said that Himanshu has proved that the youth of Haryana have the ability to bring glory to the country on any international sporting platform.

*Deepika Delivers Impressive Performance*

Haryana hockey player Deepika Sehrawat has also delivered an impressive performance at the Asian Games, scoring eight goals single-handedly in India women’s hockey team’s match. This is being viewed as a significant achievement for Indian hockey.

Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam congratulated all the athletes and said that behind their success lies the significant contribution of their families and coaches, along with years of hard work. He said the government is making efforts to provide the State’s athletes with better training, modern sports facilities and the necessary resources.

The Minister said that under Mission Olympics 2036, continuous efforts are being made to provide world-class facilities to sporting talent in Haryana. He said a strong sporting environment is being created from villages to cities across the State so that talented athletes can receive proper training from an early age and reach the international level.

He said the performance of Haryana’s athletes at the Asian Games is an inspiration for lakhs of youngsters across the State, and expressed hope that the athletes would win more medals for the country in the upcoming competitions as well.
