Hariyali Teej is a Celebration of Our Folk Culture, Nature and Women’s Power: Suman Saini

Chandigarh, August 13: Vice-Chairperson of the Haryana State Council for Child Welfare, Smt. Suman Saini, said that the message of Hariyali Teej is closely connected with nature. With the monsoon rains of Sawan, the earth is covered in a green blanket, while trees and plants symbolise new life and renewed energy. Therefore, on the occasion of Teej, we should resolve to plant more trees, protect nature and create a clean and green environment for future generations. She also called upon people to plant saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

Smt. Suman Saini attended the district-level Hariyali Teej Festival organised today at Government College, Naraingarh, Ambala. Chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Scheduled Castes Banto Kataria, State President of BJP Mahila Morcha Richa Pahwa, Municipal Corporation Mayor Akshita Saini, State Secretary Gurpreet Kaur and District President of Mahila Morcha Beenu Garg also attended the programme.

Extending her greetings to everyone on Hariyali Teej, Vice Chairperson of the Haryana State Council for Child Welfare Smt. Suman Saini said that Hariyali Teej is not merely a festival but a celebration of our folk culture, traditions, nature and women’s power. She said that being among women on this beautiful occasion fills her with happiness and pride. The greenery all around, the festive atmosphere, the joy on women’s faces and the cheerful presence of children reflect Haryana’s rich culture and beautiful traditions.

Smt. Suman Saini said that Haryana is known for its hard work, simplicity and rich folk culture. Festivals here are not merely celebrated but are lived with warmth and enthusiasm. Hariyali Teej is also one of the major festivals of Haryana. When the fields and farmlands become lush green amid the gentle monsoon showers of Sawan, the festival of Teej fills the atmosphere with renewed enthusiasm and energy.

She said that Teej holds special emotional significance for the daughters and sisters of Haryana. The festival provides them an opportunity to share happiness with their friends and families, connect with folk traditions and express their emotions through songs and celebrations. The ‘Kothli’ sent by the maternal family on Teej is a symbol of a mother’s love and affection for her daughter.

She said that respect for women is respect for the nation. Today, daughters are making their mark in every field, including education, sports, science, administration, armed forces, medicine and entrepreneurship. The daughters of Haryana have established a distinct identity for themselves in India and across the world.

She said that along with strengthening the culture of respecting women, it is also our responsibility to preserve and pass on our rich folk culture and traditions to future generations.
