Government Preparing Comprehensive Plan to Develop Kurukshetra into a Global Religious and Tourism Hub- Vipul Goel
Chandigarh, August 4- Describing Dharmakshetra Kurukshetra, the sacred land associated with Lord Krishna, as an invaluable centre of India's spiritual and cultural heritage, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Vipul Goel on Tuesday said the State Government is preparing a comprehensive roadmap to transform the holy city into a world-class religious and tourism destination. He said the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) and the Urban Local Bodies Department have been directed to prepare an integrated development plan through a reputed agency to strengthen tourism infrastructure while preserving Kurukshetra's rich spiritual, cultural and historical legacy.
The Minister was chairing a review meeting on development works being undertaken by the Kurukshetra Development Board and Urban Local Bodies in Kurukshetra on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Vishram Kumar Meena was also present.
Sh. Vipul Goel said Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi had recently inaugurated the Anubhav Kendra in Kurukshetra to promote tourism and take the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to the people. He added that a Sikh Museum and Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Dham are also being developed in the city. With these initiatives, visitors will be able to experience at one place the timeless message of Holy Bhagavad Gita, the sacrifices and legacy of the Sikh Gurus, and the teachings of revered saints.
*State's First Street Food Hub to be Ready Before Gita Jayanti*
The Cabinet Minister said approval has been accorded for Haryana's first Street Food Hub in Kurukshetra, which will be completed before Gita Jayanti. He further informed that the Thanesar Municipal Council will soon develop eight major city intersections on the Mahabharata theme, while the iconic Gita Dwar is being redeveloped to ensure greater visibility from the National Highway and further enhance the city's aesthetic appeal.
*Modern Hockey Astroturf to Come Up in Kurukshetra*
Sh. Vipul Goel said a state-of-the-art hockey astroturf, equipped with modern facilities, will be developed on the vacant land adjoining the Dronacharya Sports Stadium, in line with an announcement made by Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini. He said Haryana's progressive sports policy has enabled athletes from the State to excel on the global stage over the past decade, earning Haryana recognition as the land of champions and reinforcing its identity as India's leading sporting State.
*CM to Launch Tiranga Yatra from Kurukshetra on August 10*
Later replying to media queries, the Cabinet Minister said the State Government will organise Tiranga Yatras in every Assembly constituency as part of the Tiranga Mahotsav celebrations. Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini will formally launch the campaign from Kurukshetra on August 10, he said.
Congratulating Haryana athletes who recently returned after winning medals at the Commonwealth Games, Sh. Vipul Goel said the State Government's dedicated sports policy has played a pivotal role in nurturing sporting talent and enabling athletes from Haryana to achieve consistent success at national and international competitions.
