Government Focused on Expanding AYUSH Services under Vision-2047- Chief Minister*

Chandigarh, August 6- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the State Government aims to make the state a leading state in the country in the healthcare sector by 2047. With this vision, AYUSH services are being expanded so that people can benefit from modern healthcare along with Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy. He said that the government is committed to fulfilling the announcements made in the Sankalp Patra and the Budget within the stipulated timeline.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a review meeting of the AYUSH Department at the Haryana Civil Secretariat under Haryana Vision-2047 on late Thursday evening. During the meeting, he reviewed the progress of various works related to Chief Minister’s announcements, Budget announcements and commitments made under the Sankalp Patra.

The Chief Minister was apprised that the ‘Surakshit Aahar’ campaign is being implemented to promote Ayurveda-based balanced and nutritious diets in the state. Under this initiative, 847 AYUSH Yoga Assistants, Ayurveda Medical Officers and concerned employees are being trained. The objective of this initiative is to address malnutrition and anaemia, improve physical and mental health, promote sports culture, and create awareness about Pathya-Apathya (suitable and unsuitable dietary practices) as per Ayurvedic principles.

In the meeting, a review was also done of the proposal to establish State-level Herbal Gardens in Jind and Rewari under the commitments made in the Sankalp Patra. Besides, the progress being made towards establishing Ayushman Arogya Mandirs along with every Yogshala in the state was also discussed.

The meeting also discussed the recognition of Yoga and Naturopathy under the AYUSH system and issues related to registration of practitioners. Officials informed that the service rules for the same have been prepared and sent for approval, and the necessary process will be completed soon.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the proposed Shri Krishna AYUSH University at Kurukshetra. Discussions were held on the construction of a state-of-the-art meditation centre and a large meditation hall on the university campus. The progress of other important projects was also reviewed, including the AYUSH Panchakarma Hospital at the Government Hospital in Fatehabad, Deendayal Upadhyay Ayurvedic Hospital along with a 25-bed hospital at Prem Nagar in Bhiwani, and a dispensary-cum-hospital with Panchakarma facilities at Jamalpur in Gurugram.

The Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure timely completion of all projects so that people of the state can get better and easily accessible AYUSH healthcare services.

Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sh. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary, Department of Future, Smt. Amneet P Kumar, Director General, AYUSH Department, Sh. Sanjeev Verma, OSD to Chief Minister and Director General, Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute for Fiscal Management, Dr. Raj Nehru, along with other senior officers, were present in the meeting.
