Government appeals to Power Utility Employees to withdraw strike call

Senior Government officials hold Five-Hour Marathon meeting; Assure resolution through dialogue

Chandigarh, August 8, - The Haryana Government has reiterated its commitment to resolving the issues raised by employees of the State Power Utilities through continuous dialogue while ensuring uninterrupted power supply and safeguarding public interest.

Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the HVPNL, UHBVN and DHBVN said that senior Government officials held a detailed and constructive meeting with representatives of the employees' unions on Friday, August 7, 2026. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Haryana Bijli Karamchari Evam Engineers Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha, including the Haryana Power Engineers' Association, All Haryana Power Corporations Workers Union (HO, Hisar), H.S.E.B Workers' Union (HO, Bhiwani), and HPC SC/ST & BC Employees' Union. During the meeting, various issues raised by the employees were discussed in detail one by one, and the government assured that all genuine concerns would be considered with due seriousness, but at the same time informed the employees that, currently being the peak season, any disruption to the supply of electricity will not be permissible under any circumstances. The spokesperson said that the Government remains committed to resolving the issues through dialogue and that the doors for discussions remain open, and all employees are welcome to meet the senior Government officials at any time.

The spokesperson appealed to employees, officers and engineers not to be influenced by rumours or unverified information regarding any notification on Agri DISCOM. No proposal regarding privatization of DISCOMs is under consideration. On Parallel Licensing, an application has been filed by a private firm in the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission, and both DISCOMs have opposed it, and the public hearing has been conducted. On the issue of Smart Metering, it was informed that a file regarding floating of a tender is under process, but no final decision has been taken.

The Spokesperson said that no official notification regarding the implementation of these proposals has been issued and urged all concerned to rely only on information disseminated through official channels.

The spokesperson further said that the Haryana Government remains committed to the welfare of its employees as well as the interests of consumers and farmers, and expressed confidence that all pending issues would be resolved amicably through continued dialogue and mutual understanding.
