Focus on Time-Bound Disposal of SIR Notices and Hearing Cases

 

44.91 lakh notices generated in the State; 3.43 lakh hearing cases pending

 

Voters receiving notices urged to mandatorily appear for hearing on the scheduled date

 

Chandigarh, October 6: The Election Commission has laid special emphasis on the time-bound disposal of cases related to notices and hearings issued under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Haryana.

 

As per the district-wise review, a total of 44,91,923 notices have been generated across the State, of which 3,43,127 hearing cases are currently pending. The percentage of pending cases stands at 7.64 per cent.

 

The Commission is conducting regular reviews of the pending cases and has directed the concerned officials to ensure their expeditious disposal, effective monitoring, and strict compliance with the prescribed procedure.

 

To ensure timely completion of hearings related to the notices, special camps and door-to-door surveys will be conducted from October 7 to October 9 at polling stations where voters who have received notices have not yet submitted the required documents. The documents will be collected from such voters during this exercise.

 

Meanwhile, to make the electoral roll preparation process more transparent, a large number of Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) have been appointed by various political parties for the 20,864 polling stations in the State. These include 19,554 by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 17,127 by the Indian National Congress, 2,186 by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), 1,093 by the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), 314 by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], 146 by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and 54 by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

 

In addition, BLA-1 appointments include 90 by the BJP, 90 by the Indian National Congress, 82 by the Aam Aadmi Party, 87 by the Jannayak Janta Party, 79 by the Indian National Lok Dal, 63 by the Bahujan Samaj Party, and 36 by the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

 

The Election Commission has appealed to all voters who have received notices to appear mandatorily for the hearing on the scheduled date and submit the required documents within the prescribed time, so that the process of revision of electoral rolls can be completed smoothly and within the stipulated timeline.
