*Cabinet Minister Shruti Choudhry Directs Officers to Ensure Hassle-Free Procurement for Farmers, from Gate Pass to Timely Payment*

 

Chandigarh, October 7 — Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Shruti Choudhry today directed officers to ensure that farmers coming to mandis to sell their produce face no inconvenience at any stage—from the issuance of gate passes and procurement to weighing, lifting of produce and timely payment.

 

Smt. Shruti Choudhry visited the Bhiwani grain market to review the arrangements for crop procurement and facilities being provided to farmers. During the visit, she personally underwent the biometric process for a farmer’s gate pass to assess the functioning of the system.

 

The Minister also inspected the arrangements for testing the moisture content of the produce, the procurement process and other facilities at the mandi. She directed Market Committee officers to ensure that the entire procurement process is carried out in a timely, transparent and efficient manner, with no unnecessary inconvenience to farmers.

 

The Minister directed officers to ensure adequate availability of electricity and drinking water at the mandi and to pay special attention to the cleanliness of toilets. She also directed that the canteen remain operational throughout the procurement season and that clean, nutritious and quality food be made available to farmers.

 

Smt. Shruti Choudhry further directed officers to undertake regular monitoring of the arrangements at the mandi. She emphasised that farmers should be treated with due respect during the procurement season and that their grievances should be addressed promptly and on priority.

 

The Minister reiterated that ensuring farmers’ convenience and smooth and efficient procurement of crops remains a priority of the Government. She directed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements at every stage of the procurement process across the mandis.
