Chandigarh, September 9: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that blood donation is the greatest form of charity in the world and that nothing can compare with it. He said that if one looks at the list of great philanthropists who have donated palaces, land and other possessions, blood donation still stands above all other forms of charity. He announced that all blood donors participating in the blood donation camp would be given ₹1,100 each from his discretionary Fund to support a healthy diet.
Sh. Vij was addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest at a blood donation camp organised during an event held in Ambala Cantonment the last day. On the occasion, Energy Minister Anil Vij encouraged blood donors by pinning badges.

Energy Minister Anil Vij said that organising a blood donation camp was commendable and that blood donation is the greatest form of charity in the world. He said that science and technology have made tremendous progress. Scientists have developed vehicles, factories and rockets, and even organ transplantation has become possible, but there is still no substitute for blood. “There is not a single laboratory in the world where even one drop of blood can be manufactured. Blood can only be supplied by the human body, and donated blood helps save people’s lives,” he said. He pointed out that patients suffering from thalassemia require blood transfusions approximately every 15 days, while there are several other diseases and medical conditions in which blood is required. Blood is produced only in the human body, he said.

Energy Minister Anil Vij said that society does a great deal for all of us and that, in order to live in this world, we must also contribute to society. “The best way to repay that debt is through blood donation,” he said. He said that God keeps a watch over us and keeps an account of what we take and what we give. Therefore, people should donate blood as much as possible and do their part to repay this debt. He also encouraged all those who voluntarily donated blood and urged them to spread awareness that blood donation does not cause weakness. He said that the body replenishes the donated blood within 24 hours. He further explained that donated blood is sent to a laboratory, where one unit of blood can benefit three people. In the laboratory, the blood is separated into three components using appropriate separation techniques, he said.

Energy Minister Anil Vij also said that GMN College in Ambala Cantonment is continuously progressing in the field of education. Various professional courses, including nursing and Artificial Intelligence (AI), are being offered at the college. “AI is the technology of the present era, and there is considerable enthusiasm among young people to pursue this course. When we started the AI course here, people were not even familiar with it. Today, youth are getting employment opportunities through this course, and GMN College is continuously making progress in its field,” he said. Energy Minister Anil Vij also announced ₹1,100 each for all blood donors who donated blood at the camp organised at GMN College. He said that the amount was being provided to the donors to support a healthy diet.
On the occasion, he also encouraged the blood donors by presenting them with certificates of appreciation and medals. College Principal Dr. Rohit Dutt, Management Committee President Dr. Gurdev Singh and Punjab Kesari Bureau Chief Balram Saini also honoured the Chief Guest by presenting him with a shawl.
