Chandigarh, November 2
To mark the completion of 60 years since the formation of Haryana, a special fortnight-long initiative has been launched to deliberate on the state’s glorious development journey, present and future challenges, and the roadmap for building a fully developed Haryana. As part of this initiative, a ‘Conference of Public Representatives’ was organised on Monday at the Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula, under the ‘Constitution Fortnight’ being observed by the Haryana Legislative Assembly.
Addressing the concluding session of the conference, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Sh Harvinder Kalyan said that the primary objective of the conference was to promote public participation, highlight the role of public representatives in building an aware society, and formulate a roadmap for transforming Haryana into a self-reliant and developed state.
He said that the inaugural session of the conference was graced by Lok Sabha Speaker Sh Om Birla as the Chief Guest, who guided the public representatives. On the occasion, around 21 public representatives, including Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, shared their views and perspectives.
The Assembly Speaker said that the conference witnessed detailed deliberations on Haryana’s development journey over the past 60 years, the leadership and contributions of former Chief Ministers and public representatives, and the priorities of the present time. He emphasised that political ideologies may differ, but the ultimate objective of all public representatives should be the welfare of society, the state and the nation.
Highlighting the digital and legislative reforms undertaken by the Haryana Legislative Assembly over the past two years, Sh Kalyan said that special training sessions and workshops had been organised to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Assembly members and officials.
He further stated that to realise Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘One Nation, One Legislature’, all legislative bodies must come together on a common platform and exchange their best practices and experiences.
The Speaker remarked that development cannot be measured merely by the creation of physical infrastructure. True development is achieved when every section of society becomes equally aware of its rights as well as its duties.
Presenting the vote of thanks, Deputy Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, Dr. Krishan Lal Middha, said that Haryana’s journey from 1966 to 2026 was not merely a measure of six decades, but an enduring saga of struggle, hard work, self-confidence and collective resolve. This journey reflects the sweat of farmers, the courage of soldiers, the hard work of labourers, the contributions of mothers and sisters, and the aspirations of the youth.
He added that through its hard work and talent, Haryana had carved out a distinct place for itself in the development of the nation. Public representatives have also played a significant role in taking this glorious journey forward.
