Chandigarh, October 15: Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini attended the India-Sweden Innovation Day 2026, held in Sweden, as the Chief Guest. At this important event, the Chief Minister emphasised strengthening innovation, trade and industrial cooperation between India and Sweden.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that being present among everyone at Indo-Sweden Innovation Day was a matter of honour and pleasure for him. He said that the event was an important opportunity to advance the shared commitment to innovation for a competitive future under the India-Sweden 2035 vision. He also expressed his gratitude for making Haryana a State Partner in this year’s programme.

The Chief Minister stated that in May 2026, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi elevated India’s relations with Sweden to the level of a strategic partnership. This step is set to take cooperation between the two countries to new heights. Referring to trade figures, he said that India-Sweden trade had increased from USD 2.86 billion in 2016 to USD 7.75 billion in 2025, reflecting the growing strength of bilateral relations.

Highlighting investments by Swedish companies in Haryana, the Chief Minister said that IKEA’s integrated project worth ₹3,500 crore in Gurugram was a clear example of the company’s confidence in Haryana. Similarly, a Swedish company is establishing its Carl-Gustaf manufacturing facility at MET City in Jhajjar. The manufacturing unit of Swedish-Swiss group ABB in Faridabad, operational since 1951, has become a major production centre for modern electric motors. In addition, the first Indian school of the Swedish educational institution Kunskapsskolan was opened in Gurugram in 2013.

Sh. Saini said that all these projects reflected the shared efforts of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Made with Sweden’. He invited all the dignitaries present at the event to the ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2027’, to be held in Haryana. He also extended a cordial invitation to them to visit the sacred land of Kurukshetra in Haryana for the International Gita Mahotsav.

Swedish Minister Benjamin Dousa, Haryana Cabinet Minister Vipul Goel and Indian Ambassador Anurag Bhushan were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister’s address is expected to provide fresh impetus to cooperation between India and Sweden in the fields of innovation, education, manufacturing and investment.
