Chief Minister Pays Obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib and Ancient Shiva Temple in Punjab

Chandigarh, September 3 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sahib Amar Shaheed Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji at Raipur in Punjab and paid rich tributes to the supreme sacrifice of the great martyr Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji. Thereafter, he visited the ancient Shiva Temple at Dera Baba Umed Giri Ji in Lakhno, where he offered prayers and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of Punjab, Haryana and the entire country.

Addressing the devotees present on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the life and sacrifice of Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come. He said true valour lies in never turning away from one’s duty even in the most difficult circumstances and in dedicating oneself completely to the service of humanity. He called upon the youth to draw inspiration from the State’s glorious history and the lives of great martyrs, stay away from drugs and other social evils, and devote themselves to education, sports, skill development and nation-building.

He said Lord Shiva symbolises strength, restraint and humanity in Indian culture. As Neelkanth, Lord Shiva conveyed the message of protecting the world.

The Chief Minister said the Sanatan tradition teaches us to place the interests of society and the nation before our own interests and the welfare of humanity before our personal comfort.

The Chief Minister said the relationship between Punjab and Haryana goes beyond that of neighboring States and is rooted in a shared history, culture, values and brotherhood. Whenever he visits the land of Punjab, he feels as though he is among his own family. He said the teachings of Gurus, saints and great personalities show us the path of service, sacrifice, courage, truth and the welfare of humanity.

He said that alongside development and technology, it is equally important to strengthen values, compassion and the spirit of service in society. He called upon people to maintain brotherhood, help those in need, respect daughters, protect the environment and plant a sapling on every auspicious occasion.

The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has taken the resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047. To realise this resolve, farmers, youth, students, entrepreneurs and every citizen will have to play their part. He said the Haryana Government is also committed to ensuring that the benefits of development and public welfare reach the last person, providing opportunities to youth based on merit, strengthening farmers, and ensuring the dignity and empowerment of women and the poor.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said public service is the highest form of worship for the government, and bringing a smile to the face of the last person is the greatest measure of good governance. He called upon people to rise above the thinking that creates divisions in society on the basis of religion, caste, region and language, and move forward with unity and harmony.

He said that when society stands united, the State will progress, and when India stands united, no power in the world can prevent the country from becoming a developed nation. From both these sacred places, he called upon people to resolve to build a drug-free, educated, value-based, environmentally conscious and strong society.
