BIS Organizes 'Quality Walk' on World Standards Day; Promotes Message of Clean Energy

On the occasion of World Standards Day, the Faridabad Branch Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a grand 'Quality Walk' on Friday, centered around the theme "A Step Towards Quality." The walk was flagged off from the parking area of SRS Mall in Sector-12 and concluded at the same location. Retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Om Prakash, attended the event as the chief guest, while Bar Association President Vivek Kumar Rawat and former President Sanjeev Chaudhary participated as guests of honour. The event was organized under the guidance of M.K. Parmanik, Director and Head of BIS Faridabad.

Addressing the gathering, retired BSF DIG Om Prakash noted that the theme for this year's World Standards Day is "Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy," aimed at raising public awareness about the use of clean energy and energy efficiency. He stated that standards are not limited merely to product quality; they also play a crucial role in consumer safety, reliability, and environmental protection. Promoting affordable and clean energy is vital in today's world, and the use of quality-standardized products alongside public participation is paramount to achieving this.

In his address, M.K. Parmanik, Director and Head of BIS Faridabad, stated that the Bureau of Indian Standards is the country's national standards body under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, dedicated to protecting consumer interests through standardization and certification. BIS continuously strives to raise awareness about quality among the public through such initiatives. Through the "A Step Towards Quality" walk, he conveyed a message to citizens to make quality a part of their lifestyle, prioritize products that meet standards, and remain conscious of the use of clean and sustainable energy. Approximately 1,200 citizens participated in this public awareness rally, including students from various schools and colleges, representatives from the industrial sector, members of RWAs and bar associations, and prominent citizens of the city.
