Haryana and IIT Ropar Join Hands for Future-Ready Technical Education, MoU Signed in Presence of CM Saini

In the presence of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Technical Education Department today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar to strengthen the quality of technical education and enhance the employability of students in the State. The MoU was signed at the Swaran Jayanti Haryana Institute of Fiscal Management, Sector 3, Panchkula.

 The initiative marks an important step towards building a future-ready, innovation-driven and industry-responsive technical education ecosystem in Haryana, providing enhanced opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and skill development for the State’s youth.

Haryana Education Minister Sh Mahipal Dhanda, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Department Sh A.K. Singh, Director General, Technical Education Sh S. Narayanan, OSD to Chief Minister Dr. Raj Nehru, Director, Technical Education Dr. Y.P.S. Berwal, Director, IIT Ropar Prof. Rajeev Ahuja along with senior officers and representatives of both institutions were present during the MoU signing Ceremony.

The collaboration aims to enhance the quality, relevance and industry orientation of technical education through faculty development, laboratory modernization, curriculum enhancement, innovation, entrepreneurship and industry-oriented skill development. IIT Ropar will provide technical guidance for modernization of laboratories and development of Centres of Excellence, besides facilitating faculty development programmes, certificate courses, workshops, and exposure visits for faculty and students.

The collaboration will focus on emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, Cyber Security, Renewable Energy, Electric Vehicles, Battery Technology, Robotics and Automation, Drone Technology, and Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing. It will also support curriculum revision and outcome-based education. Special emphasis will be placed on rural youth development, employability, entrepreneurship and self-employment, enabling students and diploma/degree holders to access advanced technical knowledge and innovation ecosystems.

The MoU will remain valid initially for five years and may be extended further. It will be implemented through designated nodal officers and a Joint Coordination Committee. The collaboration will not entail any financial liability on either party.

The event was also attended by Additional Director Sh Rajesh Aggarwal, Joint Directors namely Dr. Harish Gupta, Smt. Madhu Maan, Sh Narender Pal, and Ms. Akshita Gupta, Deputy Director (Academics) of Technical Education Haryana, along with , Prof. Sarang Gumfekar, Dean (Academics), IIT Ropar and other representatives.
